Welcome to The AI Jurist Application!

This guide is designed to help you make the most of the platform and explore its powerful features. Whether you're a first-time user or looking for a quick refresher, this document will provide you with clear, step-by-step instructions to navigate the application with ease.

1. Welcome Message

Upon opening the application, you will be greeted with a Welcome Message. This introduction familiarizes you with The AI Jurist platform and encourages you to explore its features.

2. Side Navigation Bar

The Side Navigation Bar is located on the left side of the application. It provides easy access to your previous chats and queries, allowing you to quickly revisit past interactions or responses.

To navigate through your history:

  1. Click on any item in the side menu to access earlier conversations
  2. Next to each chat in the Side Navigation Bar, you'll find options to help you manage and organize your chats:
    1. Edit Chat Name: To rename a chat for better organization, click the "edit" icon next to the chat name and enter a new title.
    2. Delete Chat: If a chat is no longer relevant or needed, click the "delete" icon to remove it from your list of past interactions.

3. Input Prompt Box

The Input Prompt Box is where you enter your questions or commands to interact with the platform. Here’s how to use it effectively:

  1. Click on the input box to activate the cursor.
  2. Type your query or command.
  3. Press Enter or click the arrow icon at the end of the box to submit your query. Once submitted, the application will process your request and provide the appropriate response

4. Query Submission

After submitting your query, the application processes it and generates a response based on the information it has. If the response doesn't fully address your needs, you have the options to refine your query:

  1. Edit Your Query: If the query wasn’t interpreted correctly or if you feel a more specific phrasing could improve the result, you can edit your query before resubmission. This ensures that The AI Jurist understands your request clearly.
  2. Proceed with Original: If you're satisfied with the phrasing of your original query, click "Proceed with Original" to submit it as is.
  3. Submit New Response: If you're unsure about the phrasing, legal terms, or grammar, you can opt to rephrase your query for better accuracy. This helps The AI Jurist process your query correctly and provide a more precise answer.

Tip: Clear and specific queries yield the most relevant and accurate responses. Feel free to adjust your questions as needed for clarity.

5. Response Bar

Once your query is processed, the Response Bar displays the results. It contains four key components:

  1. User Request: Displays the exact query you submitted, allowing you to verify that it matches your intended question.
  2. Augmented Answer: Provides the response generated by the application, which combines relevant information from documents to offer a concise, accurate answer.
  3. Relevant Documents List: Below the answer, you'll see a list of documents most relevant to your query. These documents were selected based on their similarity to your question and provide context for the response. You can click on any document to view its content directly.
  4. Feedback Options: You can provide feedback on the response using the Like and Dislike icons. This helps the administrators refine the system and improve future responses.

Tip: If the response isn’t what you expected, consider refining your query or reviewing the relevant documents for additional context and insights.

6. View Relevant Information

When you need to view the documents relevant to your query, follow these steps:

  1. Click the drop-down arrow next to the document to reveal the information related to your query within that specific document.
  2. Expand Document: If you'd like to view the full document, click the "See More" option. This will allow you to expand the document and read it in its entirety, which is helpful if you need to examine a section or explore the document in more detail.

Tip: To ensure the best results for your query, select the document that is most relevant to your question.

7. Download/Copy Results

Once you're satisfied with the results of your query, you may want to save or copy them for future reference. The Download/Copy option enables you to do so:

  1. Download: Click to save the results as a file to your computer.
  2. Copy: Click to copy the content to your clipboard, allowing you to paste it wherever needed.

8. User Files

The “Your Files” feature allows you to upload documents from your computer and ask specific questions about them.

  1. Navigate to the Your Files option: On the landing page, locate the Your Files box and click on it to open the file management dialog.

Dialog Box Overview:

  • List of Previously Uploaded Files: You will see a list of files that you have previously uploaded, enabling you to easily revisit older documents without re-uploading them.
  • Search Filter: A search filter is available to help you quickly locate a specific file by typing in keywords or filenames.
  • Upload New File: Use the Upload File option in the dialog box to upload new documents.

How to Upload a New File:

  1. Locate the Upload File button in the file management dialog.
  2. Click the button to open the file selection dialog.
  3. Choose the document you wish to upload from your computer or database.
  4. Confirm the selection to upload the document.

After successfully uploading your document, you can begin querying the for specific information, related to the contents of the document.

Tip: The file formats supported are usually PDF, DOCX, or text files, so make sure your document is in a compatible format.

9. Summary Document Selection

The Summary Feature is designed to provide concise and accurate summaries of legal documents, whether they are your own files or documents from The AI Jurist repository. This feature helps you save time and effort when reviewing lengthy legal materials.

  1. Locate the Summarize Box: On the landing page, find and click the Summarize your Documents box to open the summarization dialog.

Dialog Box Overview:

  • File Selection Options:
    1. Upload your own files from your computer.
    2. Choose documents from The AI Jurist repository of pre-uploaded legal files.
  • Multiple File Submission: The platform supports submitting multiple documents for summarization in one go, making it easier to summarize several files simultaneously.

10. Summary Type Selection

After submitting your document for summarization, the application will prompt you to select the type of summary you need. The Summary Type Selection feature allows you to choose from the following options:

  1. Brief: A concise summary, typically one or two paragraphs long, regardless of the file size.
  2. Detailed: A more comprehensive summary that varies in length, based on the number of pages, providing a summary for every few pages.
  3. Comprehensive: A detailed summary for each individual page, which may result in a longer output but offers more in-depth information.

This flexibility ensures that you can tailor the summary to suit your needs, whether you need a quick overview or a detailed breakdown.
